Dealdash 411: CURRENT UPDATE

rigs - Out of Control Newbie...joined today and is bidding in almost every auction. he doesn't know what he is doing! We need to let him burn out....he is waaay too excited. It's like Cryleew all over again. But i think Cryleew has figured out some strategy now, so we'll take her out of caps and give rigs the honor being the premiere Out of Control Newbie.
pennywiser popped up early on the Presario Notebook, so he is most likely Silently Stalking. Pennywiser is good - watch it.
BabyFidgette is going for the Chromebook - remember, BabyFidgette recently won 600 bids. Assumes she stocked up during yesterday's deal, and you have to play thinking she has 1350 bids!

  1. I knew BabyFidgette was dangerous - she just got herself a cool netbook.

  2. Rigs has dropped out....did he burn through his bids? Break out a calculator? Go to bed? we may never know

  3. IWILLNotQuit - intimitation tactics, or time hoarding...he is busy bidding right on top of everyone...

  5. I'm a veteran DD bidder. I never bid on an item, no matter how expensive, unless I can afford to buy it at DD store price. Newer bidders don't understand the "culture" of PA sites. For example, I just "worked" an auction and should have closed it at about $2. I was "jumped" by a bidder who just came on DD on 6-23. I may let him win the auction itself as I have no ego ties to winning. He, however, will pay "more" than store price before I allow this. The takeaway? Learn the culture of a bidding site. The unspoken rules are very powerful and can cost you a ton of cash if not followed.

  6. Thanks Anonymous...you are soooo right! I like how you put that...understanding the "culture" of these sites...Everyday there are new NEWBIES all excited to bid. I imagine as an elite veteran bidder, it feels like one of those small town community swimming pools in the summer...you just want to get in the water, cool off and relax, but you have 10,000 screaming kids in floaties and goggles splashing all around you. Hopefully someone gets that analogy...i mean that was really happening until the pool started "adult" swim time. 10 minutes per each hour- all kids had to get out of the pool, and it was "adult" only swim time. It was amazing - as long as you tune out all the background whining of kids going "MOOOOooooommmMMM why can't we go in"

sorry if i lost you all there.

  7. My bid placed at 4 seconds was not accepted and I lost the notebook auction. DD's faulty timer got me again. If it would have posted, the BB I was going to set was going to have a good chance of winning once 50 bids or so were placed (this was my calculation of when the opponent's BB was going to run out). All was going as expected up until the bid was not accepted.

  8. pennywiser, that sucks! I wonder about that timer issue, but thought it must be more of an internet connection thing...regardless that is a huge bummer. Sorry about that. :(
    You win that Acer Laptop!

  9. I won a Flat screen and it said I was the winning bid but it wont accept payment and I emailed customer service. Do you think I will get it? Any other action I should take??
    Thanks 411

  10. I am one of those Newbies and I am very confused. When the clock goes from 30 to 20 to 10. What does that mean? Also the bidbuddy...it says that it will use those bids in the last few seconds of the auction, but mine are used long before the last seconds of the auction. Can anyone help me understand these 2 ideas?

  11. I can't find the search feature anymore. Did they take it away?
